Muktinath Darshan Tour via Gorakhpur is one of the best tour packages for anyone from India that wants to experience the Nepali culture, religion, nature and hospitality in a short amount of time. The tour includes a full day sightseeing tour around the lakeside city of Pokhara, a scenic two way flight above the beautiful Annapurna region and a short drive through the adventurous roads of Jomsom-Mustang, which finally leads to the holy temple of Muktinath.
The 4 day trip begins with your arrival in Pokhara, where you will have leisure time to explore the lakeside streets or go for some boating in Phewa Tal. The next day, a scenic early morning flight will have you at Jomsom in just half an hour. This is followed by a short drive and hike, which finally leads to Muktinath. All of this is sure to be an exciting and adventurous experience, aided by pleasing views of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri ranges.
Situated at an altitude of around 3,700 meters at the foot of the Thorong La pass, Muktinath is a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu of the Hindu pantheon. It attracts thousands of Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims every year, who come here to ‘wash away their sins and be liberated’. The Hindu’s revere Muktinath as ‘a place of liberation’ and know it as Mukti Khsetra. Buddhists, on the other hand, consider the murti to be a manifestation of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. Legend also states that Guru Rinpoche, founder of Tibetan Buddhism, meditated here on his way to Tibet. Apart from the myths and legends surrounding the temple and its origin, the points of interest here include the two holy ponds, the 108 water spouts and the perpetually burning flame at Jwala Mai.
As the trip can be completed in only a few days, Muktinath Darshan Tour via Gorakhpur is an ideal choice for those looking to enjoy the natural landscape, scenery, religion and culture of Nepal but are short on time. This is also a very easy trip in terms of difficulty, as there is minimal amount of walking involved and most of the travelling is done via flight / vehicle. The only concerning issue might be a possible case of altitude sickness at the peak altitude of 3700 meters or so. However, since we only spend a short amount of time at high altitude, most people manage the trip with no problems.
Finally, the trip can be performed at any time of the year, depending on your preferences. If you wish to experience the best views with clear skies and blooming nature, then spring and autumn might be the best periods for you. Winter is also a good option as you might get to enjoy some snowfall if you’re lucky. Monsoon is generally the period that receives the lowest number of tourists in Nepal due to the unstable weather and rainfall. However, as Jomsom / Muktinath are located in the rain shadow of Dhaulagiri, this tour can be performed in monsoon with no issues.
Our staff will receive you from the designated location in Gorakhpur through a private vehicle (car, jeep or van depending on the group size). At the Nepal – India border, you will need some legal identification (passport, driving license etc.) to pass through. If you are not an Indian national, then you will also need to get the Nepal entry visa and pay the required sum. Depending on how early you leave from Gorakhpur, you can arrive in Pokhara by late afternoon. In your leisure time, you are free to explore the bustling lakeside streets of Pokhara or go for a quick boating session in Phewa Tal.
