Pashupatinath and Muktinath Tour is one of our best religious tour packages where you will explore two of the holiest pilgrimage sites in Nepal. This 06 days Pashupatinath temple and Muktinath temple visit tour will take you from the historic capital of Kathmandu to the valleys hidden among the mountains in Mustang and back.

During the Pashupatinath and Muktinath Darshan Yatra, we visit the two major Hindu Shrine Pashupatinath and Muktinath. Located just a few kilometers away from central Kathmandu, Pashupatinath is arguably the holiest religious site in all of Nepal. Multiple temples dedicated to Lord Shiva are believed to have existed at this spot over the course of history, spanning back over 1500 years. The present temple complex was built by King Bhupatindra Malla in 1697. Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims come from faraway lands to worship and receive blessings at this holy site, especially during the festive occasions of Shiva Ratri and Teej.

Although entry to the main temple isn’t allowed for non-Hindus, there is still a lot nearby for tourists to explore. The hills above the holy Bagmati River are a popular vantage point from where you can view most of the temple complex. You can also witness the various ceremonies and rituals happening near the river premises including cremations.

Situated at over 3,700m in the remote reaches of Mustang, Muktinath is one of the holiest pilgrimage destinations in Nepal. Although the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, it attracts both Hindu and Buddhist devotees for various reasons. Hindus revere the site as a ‘place of liberation’ while Buddhists believe the murti to be manifestation of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. It is also believed that Guru Rinpoche meditated here while on his way to Tibet. The major points of interest near the temple include the 108 sacred water taps, the two holy ponds and the temple of Jwala Mai where an underground blue flame burns perpetually.

The Pashupatinath and Muktinath Darshan tour begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, followed by a flight to Jomsom. After renting a jeep and hiking shortly further, we will eventually reach Muktinath. Afterwards, we will have a return drive and flight to Pokhara. This two way journey from Pokhara to Muktinath and back offers an adventurous experience of driving on Mustang’s mountainous terrain along with two scenic flights over the Annapurna region. After a day of sightseeing in Pokhara, we will retrace our tracks back to the capital. On the final morning, we will wake up early and head to Pashupatinath to witness the morning aarati along with various other rituals depending on how much leisure time you have available.

The Pashupatinath & Muktinath Darshan tour can be performed all year long, regardless of the season. The tour is also quite easy in terms of difficulty as most of the travelling is done via vehicle/flight and only minimum amounts of walking is involved. The tour can be completed in less than a week making this an ideal pilgrimage tour. Muktinath Trips offers this tour at the best price and guarantees an enjoyable experience, so book your trip with us today!

After an early breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel. After meeting up with everyone and packing all things, we will depart from Pokhara. It generally takes around 6 hours to complete the 200 km journey from Kathmandu to Pokhara. While driving along the Prithivi Highway, we will have a stop at Kurintar. From Kurintar, a cable car facility is available which will take you all the way to Manakamana. The side trip to Manakamana will take a few hours depending on how crowded the cable car station is.  Afterwards, we will continue following the Trishuli River and head out of Gorkha. Once at Pokhara, you will have some leisure time to spend as you see fit.

Accommodation – Hotel, Meals – Breakfast, Dinner

Today, we will visit our first major religious site, Muktinath. First, we head to the Pokhara airport to catch a flight to Jomsom. Muktinath is located at a distance of around 25 km from Jomsom and can be reached in an hour or so via Jeep. After the jeep ride, you will need to hike further for 10-15 mins to reach the temple.

Known as a place of liberation, Muktinath attracts thousands of Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims every year. There are various interesting spots to explore nearby, including the holy ponds, 108 water spouts and the perpetually burning flame at Jwala Mai. You may also go collect some Shaligrams, which are said to be a form of Lord Vishnu, if you like.
After a while, we will trek back down to our jeep for the return drive to Jomsom. As it is unlikely that there will be a return flight to Pokhara on the same day, we will instead spend the night at a lodge in Jomsom.

Accommodation – Lodge, Meals – Breakfast, Dinner

Enjoy scenic aerial views of snowcapped peaks, glaciers, lakes, lush hills and forests around the Annapurna region on your morning flight to Pokhara. Once at Pokhara, we will check into our hotel and have our breakfast. We will spend the day exploring the various famous spots and landmarks around the lakeside city such as Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Mahadev, Bindabasini Temple, Talbarahi Temple, World Peace Pagoda and more. It is also possible to go for a boating session in Phewa Lake if you want. We will stay overnight at the hotel in Pokhara.

Accommodation – Hotel, Meals – Breakfast, Dinner

Enjoy the final hours in the lakeside city with breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards, we will retrace our tracks through the same route as before. The 200 km journey to Kathmandu along Prithivi Highway will take around 6 hours to complete. Depending on how early we leave, we will arrive back at the capital anywhere between the afternoon to early evening. During your leisure time, you can relax at your hotel or explore Thamel neighborhood and shop for souvenirs. We can also arrange a quick guided trip to the Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Accommodation – Hotel, Meals – Breakfast, Dinner

Rise and shine early to visit Pashupatinath and witness the morning aarati (prayers). Tourists and non-Hindus aren’t allowed inside the main temple complex but that isn’t an issue as the hills beside the Bagmati River offer fantastic views of most of the temple. You will be able to see the main structure, along with the morning aarati, shraddas, funerals and various other rituals going on around the temple, depending on how long you choose to observe.
Click some pictures here and then return back to the hotel once you’re satisfied. After breakfast, one of our staff will assist you in reaching the airport if you have a flight scheduled. Otherwise, you are free to continue with your holiday as you wish.
